Je t'adore, Monsieur Lacroix

Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks have come and gone, with many standout collections from my usual favourites. I loved the art-student-chic at Chloe; the signature jewel tones at Lanvin; the fresh monochromatic styling at Moschino; the whimsical prints at Wunderkind; the easy dresses and separates at Marni; and the Gatsby-esque paperdoll ensembles at Miu Miu.

But the collection that really mattered--the collection that had me nearly falling out of my seat in complete and utter delight--was Christian Lacroix's. I couldn't believe my eyes as I perused through look after look, being overstimulated by the array of illustrious prints and exquisite hats. I thought to myself: This is inspiration incarnate. To call these pieces 'gorgeous' is an understatement. Monsieur Lacroix has produced a nearly perfect collection that is both timeless and avant-garde. His brilliance has me asking: Karl who? Miucca who? Nicholas who? There is only Lacroix.

Two for two on the check-ins. At any rate, I have no frame of reference for this sort of thing (fashion). Currently, I'm wearing a striped shirt and plaid pants, if that means anything. Still and all, I can certainly appreciate walking art. Imagine if a painting had to move fluidly with its subject like clothing does? Again, I have no frame of reference, so this is all I can muster for a comment. Nice post, whoever you are.

omg joeski. this has always been my view on fashion. you absolutely summed it up when you said "imagine if a painting had to move fluidly with its subject like clothing does." that's why i can never see fashion as a frivolous interest as most people do. it's art that you live your everyday life in, and to me, that is a truly amazing thing! i've said this many times....the idea that a gorgeous pattern or a perfectly flattering line can make you feel so confident and beautiful...it's what gets me out of bed in the morning.
